An inverted roller coaster is a roller coaster in which the train runs under the track with the seats directly attached to the wheel carriage. This latter attribute is what sets it apart from the older suspended coaster, which runs under the track, but swings via a pivoting bar attached to the wheel carriage. The two roller coasters, original called “Dueling Dragons”, are located in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter area in the Islands of Adventure park and are in need of refurbishment after nearly 18 years of operation. The current ride, Dragon Challenge opened with the park as Dueling Dragons on May 28th, 1999. The coaster featured 2 tracks (Ice and Fire) that dispatched at the same time, merging at the bottom on the flight and rise to the sky in sync before parting ways at the first drop.
